Aunt Jenny's Baby Shower!

Aunt Jenny's baby shower was Sunday. She looked sooooo beautiful (as I mentioned before in Baby Shower #1 post)...we did an Asian type theme, with parasols and butterflies, Chinese-take out boxes for candy centerpieces, Panda Express food (Jenny's favorite) and custom fortune cookies. We did three fun games. One was an auction for prizes. First the guests earned play money depending on how many things they could remember about how Mommy looked. Then, my Mom had got 10 or so prizes that the guests could spend that money on during the auction. Isabella bid $330 on a prize and was so excited she won it. It turned out ADORABLE! Mom did so much work running around and Jenny was so appreciative of everything she got! She is all prepared to have the baby. She is already effacing and dilated...I can not wait to meet my newest niece. Her daddy Frank is deciding on her name, either Brylee Love or Skyler Love!Congratulations...We love you!

Tights, Tights, Tights!

Miss Isabella has been really into dressing herself lately. The main thing she LOVES to wear are tights. She is always asking to wear them...black, white and even red (below). I haven't been taking a lot of pictures recently because my camera lens was broke, and my long lens just doesn't work for every day shots. My sweet husband brought a new lens home on Monday and said, "Happy Valentine's Day."... Hey, I couldn't have a better gift! So here is Isabella before school this morning in the outfit she picked out, with red tights and a red headband. Today I bought her 3 more pairs of tights (all on clearance) because the girl needed some variety.

Baby Shower #1

This weekend I had the privilege of going to baby shower's for two of the most beautiful pregnant women I have ever seen! Brenna (a family friend) and Jenny (my sister) both look absolutely amazing and I am so jealous that I did not look like they did while I was pregnant, heck I don't even look like them NOT pregnant! Anyhow, Saturday was beautiful. The shower was a nautical theme, perfect for baby Dylan James, that will be arriving next month! They had yummy soup and salad, a candy bar and sprinkles cupcakes!!! Congratulations Brenna...you are going to be a wonderful Mother!!

I promise pictures of Jenny's shower are coming soon - I am just waiting for her to email me some!

So, we really need to start that Girlfriends blog so that I can post this over there :) Holly and I had some names today:

GirlfriendsKitchen.blogspot.com
GirlfriendsTableArt.blogspot.com
HeartOfOurHome.blogspot.com
GirlfriendsGourmet.blogspot.com

Leave a comment if you like any of these choices, or throw some more out!

Here is a recipe that I made last night. We thought it turned out really yummy :)

Santa Fe Enchilada Bake

Ingredients

  • 1lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 each large onion and green pepper, chopped
  • 2 cups salsa
  • 1 pkg. frozen corn, thawed and drained
  • 12 corn tortillas
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 1/2 cups kraft mexican style shredded cheese

Directions

  • Cook and stir chicken, onions and peppers in large nonstick skillet sprayed with cooking spray on medium heat 10 minutes or until chicken is cooked through. Stir in salsa and corn.
  • Arrange 6 tortillas on the bottom of 13x9 inch baking dish. Cover layers of 1/2 each chicken mixture, sour cream and cheese. Repeat layers; cover with foil
  • Bake 40 minutes or until heated through, removing foil after 30 minutes.

I am learning to be more daring and substitute things out while cooking. These are the things I did instead: I used a 9x9 baking dish and multi-grain flour tortillas. So I layered one tortilla (instead of 6), then the mixture, sour cream (I used fat free), cheese and then another tortilla and so forth. I used green Salsa Verde, a red bell pepper (instead of green) and a can of whole kernel corn drained (I didn't have frozen).

Mange Bene!

Playin' in the RAIN!

What do you do on a rainy day when there is no school? Stay in your pajamas, watch cartoons/movies, play barbies and then play in the rain! Daddy mentioned going outside to play in the rain and Bella thought it was the best idea EVER. So, we let her! She lasted a while before she came in to bundle up with some hot cocoa. This is the adorable jacket from Aunt Amy and Isabella wanted to get her hair wet so she could use the cool Turbie Twist from Grammy. Oh, to be a kid!!

Snow Day

We had a blast at Snow Day yesterday. Popi, Grammy, Aunt Jenny and Camryn joined us for some fun in the Snow at a park here in Chino Hills. There was sledding, crafts, face painting, balloons, snow ball fights and snowmen! I had a great time playing photographer and capturing the fun everyone had.

Daisie's wedding reception...

Last night we made our way to Via Verde Country Club, where we celebrated the recent marriage of our great friend Daisie and her husband Josiel. Congratulations Daisie...we are so happy for you! You looked beautiful and I can tell you are so, so happy with Josiel. May God bless your marriage!

We didn't plan on wearing red...great minds think alike!

How cool...Daisie got to wear her dress TWICE! And I LOVE her blue flower.

Friends forever. Dr. Trotter would be proud!

Lovin' my hubby!

Boys WILL be Boys!

My sweet boy has his first black eye! This is a couple days after the fact and it looks worse when he has his eye closed, but of course I couldn't get a picture of him doing that. I told our doctor we were going to have to get him a helmet...he is just a rough and tumble little boy... this happened while he was messing around with Sister and fell into the hearth. His eye happened to hit the ledge just right... Unfortunately, I am sure it will not be the last one!

WHAT AM I GOING TO DO?

The other day T text me to say Kiddie Kandids is closing!!!! They are filing bankruptcy and closing. I AM SO UPSET!!! What am I am going to do now. Kiddie Kandids is THE place I went to for the kids monthly picture their first year plus all the holidays. I LOVE THEM! The staff has even got to know me and my kids. They are so wonderful with them and have taken the best pictures. I have tried JcPenney, Picture People and even Glamour Shots...but Kiddie Kandids is THE place to make your appointment last minute, get some great pictures and leave with the prints...all within an hour. Now what am I going to do for Valentine's and Easter ...They aren't even allowing you to order past prints of your kids (they kept an online file) ....Waaa Waaa Waaa .... Has anyone tried Sears or any other place?

I am holding out hope that some company comes along and buys the company (even changes the name) but still keeps the same locations and procedures. That will be great!

Another Recipe Keeper

I have really enjoyed cooking dinner and eating it as a family when Chris gets home. Isabella helps set the table and say the prayer before dinner. Here is another keeper recipe we tried tonight from my new Weight Watchers in 20 minutes cookbook...

Pork Tenderloin with Cranberry Pan Sauce
Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 pounds pork tenderloin, trimmed and cut into 8 slices
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup reduced sodium vegetable broth
  • 1/4 cup whole-berry cranberry sauce
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

Directions

  • Spray a large nonstick skillet with nonstick spray and set over medium-high heat. Sprinkle pork with 1/2 teaspoon of the salt and the pepper. Add to the skillet and cook until browned, about 2 minutes on each side. Transfer to a plate.
  • add the broth to the skillet, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Add the cranberry sauce, orange zest, thyme and pork along with any accumulated juices; bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, covered, until the pork is cooked through, about 8 minutes

Sides

  • We added extra cranberry sauce on top of the pork pieces to eat.
  • I served this with steamed green beans. Salt and Pepper to taste.
  • The recipe also called for Butternut squash, but I could not find that at the grocery store. So I baked a sweet potato in the microwave as you would a baked potato. Took off the skin and mashed the potato with splenda brown sugar and some "I can't believe it's not butter."

A whole lotta nothin...

Let's see what our weekly recap is. Monday we took Vincent to the doctor's for shots :( That was really sad since he had to have 4. Tuesday Isabella wanted to be FANCY for school, so this is what she wore.

We have been playing with Isabella's new digital camera that she got for Christmas. When she holds it close and takes our picture, the flash washes out our faces :)

On Friday I hosted a Princess House party for Rebecca who just became a consultant. It was really fun and thank you to everyone who placed an order!!! After that we headed back to Grammy's house where we had dinner and watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (Because Isabella wanted Daddy and Popi to watch it with her) for the third or fourth time. That is why I put the theme song on the blog. It is a really cute movie.

During the week I also did some Valentine's decorating. Here is the adorable new garden flag my neighbor and friend Lauren bought for us along with the heart wreath I made for the door and the snapdragons I planted in my urns.

When I went grocery shopping on Saturday for dinner (Daddy made us his yummy world famous chicken), Isabella asked if I would bring her back a cookie. One had pink sprinkles and one blue...so both kids got one. Daddy and I watched a movie after the kids fell asleep and had a relaxing night.

And finally last night we went over to "the boys house" next door for S'more and fondue. We had so much fun. Thanks Lauren! Isabella just loves those boys so much!

Vincent just cruising around.

I was using the final pictures on the fun saver...the bad thing is you can't see when you chop off your head! Vincent was so cute...he took the camera held it out toward his face and said "CHEESE"! He did it three or four times, along with trying to click the camera so he would actually take a picture. Getting so big! I hope everyone's week is off to a good start :) xo

Rose Parade Floats

So my Fun Saver didn't do too bad...here are our pictures from viewing the Floats. It was a ton of fun and definitely something to experience once! The floats are amazing and you can tell how much work goes into each of them!
