Mayonnaise Jar and 2 Glasses of Wine
My sister sent me this story below, I think it is perfect to share with everyone in hopes that we can alll have this wonderful outlook as we approach the New Year! Family is so important, it's no surprise I feel this way, so take time to enjoy the things you love most....don't sweat the small stuff! Now, if I can only take my own advice!!
When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 glasses of wine...
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous "yes."
The professor then produced two glasses of wine from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things; your family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favorite passions; things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full." The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, and your car. The sand is everything else; the small stuff. "If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "There is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you." "Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18. Do one more run down the ski slope. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first; the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the wine represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of glasses of wine with a friend."
Share this with a friend. I just did.

Piraino Family Christmas
We had such a great time at the Piraino Family Christmas party on Saturday! It was fun to see and hang out with all of the family that we don't get to see as often as we would like. There are over 50 of us! Mom and Amy made an ornament fpr each person for the "unity tree". Russ Bassett made a sleigh and reindeer for Santa's visit. When Santa came Isabella said with wonder, "PAPA's....SANTA?!?!?!?!?!" It was adorable! The next day she was looking at the polaroid picture of her and Santa. She said, "Papa's Sooooooooo Cuuuuuute!"

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas...
At the Calagnas! Decorating for Christmas is something I look forward to all year! I love it so much, probably because my mom does and I always love how much she decorates. So doing the same gives me a sense of warmth and tradition. I wish I could get some better night shots with the lights, but you get the picture!
We decorated Isabella's very own Christmas Tree on Wednesday night. She had a blast hanging all her ornaments "by self" and at the end said, "It's Beautiful! I love it!" I haven't caught her yet to take a picture by her tree, but I will eventually!
Last night she helped me decorate the "big" Christmas Tree. She lined up all the ornaments and handed them to me. "Here you go Mommy...Got It...So Pretty...Perfect!" She is a very encouraging little girl!

Mele Kalikimaka
That is what they say in Hawaii!
In true Becky fashion, I took a TON of pictures from our trip...It rained most of the time, but we still had a GREAT time...as we always do together!
It was awesome to be able to show Isabella Pearl Harbor. Daddy explained to her that all of her Great-Grandpa's served in the Navy in WWII! How special is that? Great-Grandpa Bob was stationed in Honolulu right after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Isabella also went on stage to learn the Hula. She LOVES the spotlight!
Enjoy!
